[Good weather. Good tide. Perfect condition for halibut fishing.]
Went out to San Francisco Bay for my first halibut trip of 2019 with 6 other friends. We launched out of Oyster Point Marina and trolled 1 mile east of Oyster Point. With the calm weather and neap tide, it was a perfect condition for halibut fishing. I hooked onto a 22 inch striper right off the bat while passing through a huge bait ball on the bottom, then landed my first keeper (23 inch) halibut right at the high tide followed by 4 shaker halibut (and lost a questionable keeper right at the boat). The bite slowed down and I trolled without a bite for an hour and half. Then, I hooked onto a 21 inch shaker followed by a 25 inch halibut that was successfully landed. As a group, we landed a total of 5 keepers ranging from 22 inches to 28 inches with many shakers.
