JUMBO CRABS TO START SEASON
HMB (Pillar Point)
The sport crabbing season started off strong for anglers hoping to get in some tasty crustaceans before commercial season starts this week.
On Saturday Nov. 1, 2014 the season started off with strong wind, rain and large swells. The Kayak Anglers willing to brave the storm were rewarded with limits of jumbo dungeness crab.
Sunday proved to be better day with most anglers making easy limits by early noon. As typical of this time of the year, thievery is common.
Some Anglers reported their pots were raided while other reported missing pots. Bottom line – Keep an eye on your pots and refrain from leaving them out too long without supervision.
Get your crab on! It looks to be a great season that is just getting started.
